BANGOR – Dorothy Rose Gould, 83, wife of the late Col. Douglas B. Gould, died Feb. 27, 2004, from complications of heart disease at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Bangor. She was born Sept. 6, 1920, in Farmington, the daughter of Wesley C. and Lora (Bergeron) Luce. She attended Farmington schools and graduated from Farmington High School in 1939. During World War II, she earned her Nurses Aide Certificate at Waterville’s Thayer Hospital. She was a proud homemaker and a “people person” with many friends. Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Morgan of Philips; a granddaughter, Alison Gould Melanson of Orono; a great-granddaughter, Lauren-Ashley Rose Melanson of Orono; a sister, Irene Harnden of Phillips; and a brother, Earl Luce Sr. of Farmington. She was predeceased by her son, Douglas B. Gould Jr., in 1975; and by her husband, Col. Douglas B. Gould, in 1998. Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Adams Funeral Home, 108 Court St., Farmington. As per her wishes, there will be no funeral services.
