MILBRIDGE – Dorothy (Warren) “Dot” Crane, 87, died Sept. 13, 2007, at her residence. She was born Oct. 24, 1919, in Lubec, the daughter of Milroy and Lois (Peacock) Warren. Dot was a Lubec native. She attended Lubec High School and graduated from Walnut Hill, Natick, Mass., and the University of Maine, Class of 1942. She was an Alpha Omicron Pi sorority sister and a member of the All Maine Women honorary society. She also attended Husson College for one year. During World War II, she worked at Eastern Maine Medical Center and taught school at Washington Academy. Later she was a teller at Union Trust Bank, Milbridge. Dot was a 4-H leader and enjoyed teaching girls how to sew and knit. Dot is survived by daughters, Susan Crane of Zephyr-hills, Fla., and Betsy Crane and husband, Jon Fickett, of Milbridge; brothers, Robert Warren of Bedford, N.H., and James Warren of Brewer; grandchildren, Alex, Nicole “Nikki” and Sarah Grant, Brian and Kevin Cirone; four great-grandchildren; and her dear friend, Norma Monsulick, formerly of Water Street, Milbridge. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, J. Burleigh Crane; brothers, Donald, Stanley and John Warren; and her dear friend, Elizabeth “Lib” Mulholland of Lubec. Friends are invited to call 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Dot’s home, 14 Bridge St., Milbridge. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at First Congregational Church of Milbridge with the Rev. Nicole Grant Yorkman officiating. Interment will be at Whiting Cemetery, Whiting.
