EUGENE, Ore. – Douglas Alan Howes, 50, passed away April 20, 2007, in Vancouver, Wash., after battling a long illness. He was born Dec. 7, 1956, in Presque Isle. He had lived for many years in Hopkinton and Lunenburg, Mass., before moving to Eu-gene, Ore., several years ago. Doug had served in the U.S. Army, worked most of his life as a heavy equipment operator and carpenter, and loved to spend his spare time fishing. He is survived by his daughter, Felicia Howes of Eugene, Ore.; his mother and father, Stanferd and Beverly (McKay) Howes of Lancaster, N.H.; two sisters, Carol Stiles of Lancaster, N.H., and Dorothy Princiotta of Landstuhl, Germany; two brothers, Robert Howes of Eagle Point, Ore., and S. Lloyd Howes of Franklin, N.H; his niece, Danielle Princiotta; and five nephews, Jesse Howes, Francis Howes, Christopher Princiotta, Jonathan Princiotta and Michael Princiotta. Anyone wishing to make a donation in Doug’s memory may do so to a charity of their choice or to the International Lions Eye Research through a local Lions Club.
