DEDHAM – Duane C. “Smitty” Smith Sr., died Sept. 14, 2004. Born April 28, 1939, the son of Blake and Mertie (Johnson) Smith. Surviving are Mickey Smith, wife of 45 years; his children, Mary-Jo ‘Tikie’ Byard and her husband, Jeff, Duane “Bubba” Jr. and his wife, Karen, Pixie Campbell and her husband, Tom; seven grandchildren, Tessa and Jesse Byard, Darren Smith, Teresa, Emily, Madison, Hailie Campbell; brother, Dwight Smith. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Durwood. Duane was a member of the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge, No. 71, Orland and worked for Webber Oil for many years. He was happy when he was on his tractor and hanging out with the guys. He was loved by many and will be missed by them all. There will be no services except for a Masonic burial at his home at Bald Mountain, Dedham, Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 at High Noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rising Sun Lodge, Orland. Cremation arrangements by Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer.
