HOULTON – Duane Knapp died unexpectedly Feb. 2, 2008, at his residence. He was born June 8, 1954, in Houlton, the son of Allan M. and Dawn (Shields) Knapp. Duane attended Hodgdon schools and was a graduate of Hodgdon High School. After high school, Duane joined the U.S. Army. He was a local butcher for many years at County Yankee Grocer. Duane enjoyed music his whole life, learning to play the piano at a very young age. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows Rockabema Lodge No. 78. He is survived by his mother of Houlton; his daughter, Tara Knapp; one grandson, Edward Tristan, both of Weatherford, Texas; two brothers, David Knapp and his wife, Kim, of Florida, and Perry Knapp of Hodgdon; four sisters, Alice Lindsay of Hodgdon, Judy Putnam and her husband, Leigh, of Amity, Betty Marshall of Ludlow and Charlotte Lightbody and her husband, Gary, of Hodgdon; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father; and his sister, Lorraine Knapp. Friends may call noon Thursday until the time of service 1 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home with Pastor David Tuttle officiating. Interment will be at North Amity Cemetery in the spring.
