PORTLAND – E. Donald Bouchard, 54, died Dec. 7, 2004, in Sedona, Ariz. Born Dec. 10, 1949, in Wallagrass, he was the eldest son of Bertrand and Rosa Bouchard. He grew up in Millinocket, and graduated from Stearns High School. Don was the first in his family to attend college. He received a bachelor’s of art in education from the University of Maine at Farmington and went on to attain his Master’s in Adult Ed at the University of Southern Maine. Don began his career working with ESL students and families as a part of Literacy Volunteers of Maine and went on to become the Director of Adult Education in Waterville. Don then worked for Brown University in Providence, R.I., and became a member of the Education Alliance for Excellence in American Schools. He was also involved in the Department of Education Regional Lab at Brown University, serving all New England states as well as New York and the Virgin Islands. Don’s most recent position was as a Program Specialist in Professional Development and Action Research applied to primary and secondary education. He also started the Emeritus Corp for administrators in the New York City school system. Don was loved by all who had the opportunity to meet him and became a great leader through his speeches and charisma. He was an incredible man. He is much-loved and dearly missed by family, friends, colleagues and students alike. Don is survived by his mother, Rosa Bouchard of Millinocket; his partner, Brian Marcotte of Sedona, Ariz.; his daughter, Sarah Boss of Davis, Calif., and his two grandchildren Xander and Zara Boss of Davis, Calif.; his former wife, Claire Turlo of Sedona, Ariz.; as well as his siblings, Lucy Bouchard of Milton, Fla., Nancy Stanley of Medway, Brenda Bernardini of Millinocket, Ruthie Leet of Medway, Bertie Bouchard of Millinocket, Anna Edgerly of Brunswick, Johnny Bouchard of Saco, Bryant Bouchard of Cromwell, Conn., Michael Bouchard of Sanford, and Ron Bouchard of Hampden. Funeral services will be announced at a later date.
