BAR HARBOR – E. Louise Richardson, 89, died Jan. 14, 2007, at a Bar Harbor health care facility. She was born July 6, 1917, in Tremont, the daughter of Fred Victor and Elfreida (Brown) Thurston. Louise graduated from Pemetic in 1935. She owned and operated the store at Red Rock Corner for 12 years. She also worked at Ellsworth Woolen Mill and as a chambermaid for the Bar Harbor Inn and Frenchman Bay Hotel. She was a past secretary for the Town Hill Ladies Aid, a former member and trustee of the Town Hill Federated Church, past member of the Mount Desert OES, now Irene Chapter of Ellsworth and a member, past president and secretary of the Bar Harbor Senior Citizens for eight years. Louise enjoyed reading, crafts, crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She is survived by her son, Fred Richardson and wife, Madeline C., of Town Hill; one daughter, Julianne and husband, Doug Rodick, of Bar Harbor; one brother, Leslie Thurston of Southwest Harbor; one sister, Pauline McEachern of Bass Harbor; three grandchildren, Lisa Louise Taylor, Glenn Robert Greenlaw and Brender Jean Carter; and five great-grandchildren, Katie Lynn Greenlaw, Joshua Fred Carter, Kenneth Norman Carter Jr., Jessica Mae Carter and Ivori Greenlaw. Louise was predeceased by her husband, Douglas L. Richardson; and one sister, Eva Reed. Friends are invited to call 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Robert Maddocks and Pastor Bud Morse officiating.
