WESTON – Earl Lydon Cowan, 83, husband of Leola (Kinney) Cowan, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, April 4, 2005, at Gardiner Health Care Facility in Houlton. He was born May 22, 1921, in Danforth, the son of George and Lillian (Allen) Cowan. Earl graduated from Danforth High School in 1939. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a dairy farmer for many years, then worked at Georgia Pacific until 1975. He was a life member of American Legion Post No. 45 of Danforth and a member of the Danforth Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, Leola; he is survived by two sons, Maynard and Cherry Cowan of Mars Hill, and Maurice and Linda Cowan of Danforth; two daughters, Winnie Windsor and friend, Jerry Farell of Waltham, Mass., and Sheila and Leslie Keith of Lincoln; four sisters, Vera Yaniga, Gloria and Phillip Nicolai, Marion Clarke and Eleanor Carver; eight grandchildren, Matt and Molly Cowan, Vicky and Chuck Moody, Nina and Troy Bradstreet, Brad Cowan and fianc?e, Jill Tolman, Wendy Cowan and fianc?, Barrett Westerdahl, Adam Windsor, Scott and April Irish, and Patrick and Crystal Irish; seven great-grandchildren, Taylor Cowan, Abby Moody, Noah and Nicholas Bradstreet, Kamden Westerdahl, Hannah Irish, Landri Irish, and Brayden Irish, due to arrive in April; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Owen Cowan; and an uncle, Eugene Cowan. Friends may call 1-2 p.m. Saturday, at the Danforth Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, at the church, with the Rev. Leon Robinson officiating. Interment will be in Danforth Cemetery, at a later date.
