LINCOLNVILLE – Earle Prescott Lowell, 74, husband of Betty Lowell, died Sunday, April 17, 2005, at Waldo County General Hospital after a brief illness. Born Oct. 6, 1930, in Windham, he was the son of Ralph and Lillabell (Prescott) Lowell. He was a 1948 graduate of Windham High School and received his associate degree from Wentworth Institute in Boston in mechanical engineering. His employment included Schlotterbeck and Foss Company in Portland, where he worked as plant manager; Medomak Canning Company in Waldoboro; and Bath Iron Works, where he worked as a pipe fitter until his retirement in 1996. He had resided in Windham, Scarboro, Waldoboro and most recently Lincolnville. Sept. 11, 1999, he married Elizabeth “Betty” Heal. His hobbies included boating, fishing, camping and traveling. Earle and Betty had just returned from a cruise to the Western Caribbean several weeks ago. One of his favorite pastimes was working outdoors and puttering in his flower gardens. He had been a dedicated Meals On Wheels driver in the Lincolnville area for several years. His family said he was a loving, caring, and honest man who was loved by many and will be greatly missed by family and friends. Surviving is his wife, Betty Heal Lowell of Lincolnville; two sons, Nathan Lowell and his wife, Kay, of Greeley, Colo., Russell Lowell and his wife, Terry, of Waterboro; three daughters, Laurie Kennedy of Windham, Rosanne Lowell of Lincolnville, Dawna Peterson and her husband, Kevin, of Auburn; five stepsons, Dan Litchfield and his wife, Terre, Warren Litchfield, all of Scarborough, Raymond Litchfield and his wife, Michelle, of Keller, Texas, George Heal and his wife, Marie, Wayne Heal and his wife, Jane, all of Lincolnville; one stepdaughter, Susan Egert and her husband, Jim, of Keller, Texas; one brother, Neal Lowell and his wife, Ruth, of Greensboro, N.C.; 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and five nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Steven Lowell; his parents; and his second wife, Mitzi Litchfield Lowell. Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005, at the Laite Funeral Home, 9 Mountain St., Camden. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2005, at the United Christian Church in Lincolnville Center, with the Rev. Susan Stonestreet officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery, Route 52, Lincoln-ville. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the United Christian Church Building Fund, P.O.
