PRESQUE ISLE – Earle R. Junkins, 79, died March 12, 2007, surrounded by his family after a long illness. He was born Dec. 26, 1927, in Masardis, where he lived most of his life. A retired engineer of the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad, Earle was an avid hunter, fisherman and a former Maine guide. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lorraine Hansen Junkins; five children, Michael and wife, Randa, of Concord, N.C., Claude and wife, Kimberly, of Holden, Robert and wife, Terri, of Freeport, Judith Gilbreath and husband, David, of Clyde, Texas, and Brian and wife, Micheline, of Olathe, Kan.; 10 grandchildren, Michelle (Junkins) and Paul Hiscox, Randall Junkins, Christopher Junkins, Corey and Amanda Junkins, Matthew and Jake Junkins, Andrew, Aaron and Megan Gilbreath, and Bennett Junkins; two great-grandchildren, Nathan Hiscox and Benjamin Junkins; one sister, Alice Lyons; nephew, Richard; and niece, Bonnie. He was predeceased by his parents, Helen Wiggins Junkins and Norris Junkins; a granddaughter, Amanda Rae Gilbreath; and a nephew, Larry Lyons. By his request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the County Dialysis Center, 21 North St., Presque Isle, ME 04769. A memorial service will be held during the summer at a date to be announced.
