BLANCHARD TOWNSHIP – Edgar E. MacMaster of Blanchard Township went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Nov. 25, 2004, at the age of 82. He was born July 4, 1922, in Richmond, the son of the late Forrest and Ida (Baston) MacMaster. Ed, early on in years, was employed by Portland Shipyard and Bath Iron Works and Kyser Shipyard in California as a burner instructor. He was a former captain of the Gardiner Fire Department. He was self-employed for many years as owner and operator of Cobbossee Service Center of Gardiner and Farmingdale. In latter years, before retirement, he was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 1253 of Augusta as a construction electrician. He was a member of the Monson Community Church. He was a charter member of the Gardiner Sportsmen Club. He was a member of the Azan Shriners of Melbourne, Fla., where he enjoyed transporting patients and family members to the Shrines Hospital in Tampa, Fla. He is survived by his wife, Louise (Purdy) MacMaster of Blanchard Township; his children, John and his wife, Brenda MacMaster, of Douglasville, Ga., Jacqueline and her husband, John Salesky, of Manchester, N.H., and Alfred and his wife, Dottie, of South Gardiner; his grandchildren, Dana Hoffman of Virginia, Michelle Martinez of Colorado, Denise McCoy of New Hampshire, Deanna Gale of Florida, Joe Fisher of Gardiner, Greg MacMaster of West Gardiner, Missy Reed of China, Sherylin St. Onge of New Hampshire and Greg Fisher of China; 19 great-grandchildren, his brothers, Fred McMaster of Massachusetts, Clyde MacMaster of South Gardiner and Florida and Alfred MacMaster of Gardiner. He was predeceased by brothers, Clifford MacMaster and Ormand McMaster; sisters, Dorothy Hersey and Virginia Maron; and grandson, Herbert Fisher. A time of gathering and greeting one another will be held from 12-1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, followed by a celebration of life service at 1 p.m., at the Monson Community Church in Monson.
