KNOX – Edgar R. Hartford, 96, died Feb. 26, 2004, at a Belfast healthcare facility. He was born Feb. 27, 1907, in Harrington, the son of Harry and Adelaide (Smith) Hartford. Edgar worked on the Great Lakes for three seasons; for the Central Maine Power Co. for two years; and for the Knox Woolen Mill in Camden for more than 39 years. He resided on Spruce Street in Camden for 55 years. Since 1988, he has lived on Abon Hill in Knox. Edgar was predeceased by his wife, Nancy (Grant) Hartford; his brothers, Burton, Harry, Vernon and Ernest Hartford; four sisters, Kathryn H. Alley, Clara H. McKinney, Avis H. Dolliver and Doris Edmunds. He is survived by many nieces and nephews; and will be sadly missed by Nancy L. Alley, who cared for him in recent years. A graveside service will be held at the time of his committal at 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, at the family lot in the Mountain View Cemetery in Camden.
