FLINTSTONE, Md. and Maine – Edith Gertrude Jenkins, 96, died Sunday, March 12, 2006, at the Cumberland Nursing Home. Born Nov. 21, 1909, in Long Reach, N.B. Canada, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mahala Elizabeth Smith. Mrs. Jenkins had been a sales clerk at Weinberg’s department store. Mrs. Jenkins was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, where she belonged to St. Catherine’s Circle. Survivors include her two daughters, Lois Mitchell of Lincoln, Ill. and Jeanne Eaton of Flintstone, Md.; one sister, Bessie of N.B., Canada; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, Md. The funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
