BELFAST and SEARSPORT Edith Mae (Lewis) Goff, 93, died July 29, 2004, at a Belfast nursing facility. She was born March 25, 1911, in Boothbay Harbor, the daughter of Dana A. and Sarah (Gary) Lewis. She was raised in Hartland, graduating from high school in 1929. She studied nursing at Waldo County General Hospital before marriage and then worked for various shoe-manufacturing companies in the Belfast area while raising her family. She enjoyed knitting, reading, cooking, going for rides in the country and having picnic lunches. She and her late husband, Carl, moved to Searsport in 1988. She was a member of the Swanville Community Church. Edith is survived by two sons, Gerald P. Stevens Sr. and wife, Myra, of Searsport, Richard M. Stevens and wife, Joyce, of North Searsport; a brother, Seth R. Lewis and wife, Dorothy, of Skowhegan; two grandsons, Gerald Stevens Jr., Michael Perkins; three step-grandchildren, Dianne Wellman, Joseph Wellman, and Susann Dakin; several nieces and nephews; many friends including many wonderful caregivers at Tall Pines Healthcare Facility, especially Cathy Wiggin. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl W. Goff in 1993; a son, Donald Lewis Stevens in 2002; several siblings. A graveside memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday Aug. 2, 2004, at the Grove Cemetery, Belfast, with Pastor Russell Bonin officiating.
