MILFORD and OLD TOWN Edmond J. “Casper” LeBretton passed away July 3, 2008, at the Maine Vet-erans’ Home, Bangor. He was born Sept. 12, 1922, in Old Town, son of Edmond F. and Florence (Bishop) LeBretton. Casper graduated from Old Town High School, Class of 1942. He entered the Navy in 1942 and graduated from the U.S. Naval Medic School, Portsmouth, Va., in 1943. Then he was sent to the U.S. Naval Hospital in the South Pacific. While there, Casper saw action on Sub Chaser 1327 as a first class medic. He was also involved in the invasion of Manila and the island of Mundo. Casper was employed as a stitching room foreman for 35 years. Upon retirement Casper enjoyed coin collecting, gardening, berrying and golfing. He especially enjoyed his golf trips to Canada and North Carolina with his golf buddies. He was a life member of the VFW and Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th degree. Casper is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty LeBretton; son, Ronald and his wife, Donna, of Plymouth, Mass.; daughter, Carol King and her husband, Dan, of Old Town; 10 grandchildren, Matthew, Tim, Amy, Aaron, Jonathan, Jeffrey, Nathan, Danielle, Jamie and Jennifer; eight special great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Nolan, Jacob, Luke, Trevor, Taylor, Dominic and Nicholas; brother, Edward; sisters, Margurite Malenfant and Gloria Oakes; son-in-law, Edward Rosenbeck; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Deborah Rosenbeck; brothers, O’Neil and Charles; and sister, Bernice. The family wishes to thank the Maine Veterans’ Home staff for their compassion and the professional care they provided to Casper. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at Holy Family Parish with interment and military honors at St. Joseph Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to share fellowship at the parish hall after the service.
