SCARBOROUGH – Edna M. Mountfort, 78, of Skyline Street, went home to be with Jesus Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at a Portland hospital. She was born in Belfast, the daughter of Bert and Goldie Whiting Benner. Edna worked at a shoe company and for many years as an Avon Sales Person, where she earned several awards. She was a member of the Eastern Star, and was a past Worthy Matron of the Rosewood Chapter 172, a member of the Rebecca’s, of which she was past Grand Noble and Deputy President of the Aurora Lodge, and a member of TOPS. Edna enjoyed arts and crafts, including crochet, sewing, needlepoint and knitting. She made many things for craft fairs. She was predeceased by her first husband, Meredith Salter; a daughter, Elwanda Gibbs of Belfast; two brothers, Franklin “Bud” Warren and Carl Warren; and a sister, Alice Woodman. She is survived by her husband, Horace Mountfort of Scarborough; a daughter, LuAnn Lucier and her husband, Albert, of Westbrook; four grandchildren, Wanda McLean, Bert Bailey, Bruce Peterson and Lucas Peterson; and several great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. Graveside services will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday at Grove Cemetery in Belfast.
