CARROLL – Edward E. White Sr., 79, died peacefully at a Lincoln hospital, after a long illness, on Nov. 2, 2003. He was born in Boston, Mass., July 27, 1924, the son of Edward and Bridie (Connors) White. He was a member of the U.S. Navy from Jan. 29, 1943, to Aug. 15, 1946. While protecting his country during World War II, he served aboard the USS Ajax, USS Arapaho, and USS LST 903. He received a World War II Victory Medal, American Area Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Area Medal (3 stars). In addition to his wife of 50 years, Annie May (McLaughlin) White, he is survived by seven children, Edward Jr. and Imelda of Springfield, Mass, Robert, John and Wanda, Linda and John Krapf, all of Springfield, Thomas of Oakland, Jimmy of Lincoln, Paul and Lisa of Lee; 17 grandchildren, John-John, Peter, Wendy, Johnny, Katie, Sarah, Greg, Lacy-Jo, Little John, Stephanie, Cody, Jamie, Tommy, Tyler, Shane, Vanessa and Elizabeth; and three great-grandchildren, Eric, Mikayla and Jarik. He was predeceased by a son, Timothy; and a sister, Kay. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Linda Hatch officiating. Interment will be at Lindsay Cemetery, Carroll, at a later date.
