JEFFERSON – Edward J. Chochrek, 51, died late on the evening of Sept. 6, 2004, at Central Maine General Hospital, after being stricken at home. Born July 20, 1953, in Cambridge, Mass., he was the son of Charles and Catherine (Sidabras) Chochrek. A graduate of Cambridge High, he went on to earn his degree in clinical pathology. Ed had a lifelong interest in fishing and for many years worked on a commercial fishing boat, while still maintaining his love for fishing as a hobby. After coming to Jefferson, he and his wife raised American Dairy show goats, placing them in homes throughout the country. He leaves his loving wife, Frances “Fritzy” Chochrek, of Jefferson; and his best friend and brother-in-law, Tom Ryan of Windsor. He also leaves four brothers, Peter Chochrek, Paul Chochrek and John Chochrek, all of Somerville, Mass., Joseph Chochrek of Scituate, Mass.; a sister, Claire Chochrek of Somerville, many nieces, nephews and his beloved pets. Calling hours will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Strong Funeral Home and Memorial Center, 612 Main St., Damariscotta. During that time an informal service of remembrance will take place, with Rick Newell officiating. In lieu of flowers, Ed’s family desires donations to either the National Kidney Foundation, or the American Heart Association, of one’s choice.
