HAMPDEN – Edward M. Ellingwood, 68, passed away May 4, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 29, 1937, in Hampden, the son of Leon A. and Christine (Richards) Ellingwood. Edward was a graduate of Hampden Academy, Class of 1956 and following high school, served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1959. After the service he returned to Hampden where he spent most of his life working as a carpenter. Edward was a lifetime member of the Whitcomb-Baker V.F.W. Post No. 4633 of Hampden. He is survived by three sisters, Kathleen Reynolds and her husband, Robert, of Hampden, Beverly Smith of Groveport, Ohio and Bethany Carlson of Fort Worth, Texas; one brother, David Ellingwood and his wife, Margie, of Winterport; sister-in-law, Myrtle Ellingwood of Hampden; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Roger Ellingwood. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, with the Rev. Dr. Deborah M. Jenks, pastor of the Hampden Congregational Church, officiating. Visitation will be noon until time of service at 1 p.m. Monday. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Hampden.
