WESTFIELD and FORT FAIRFIELD – Edward M. McKenney, 78, died Saturday morning, Jan. 10, 2004, at a Westfield residential facility, following a brief illness. He was born April 3, 1925, at Fort Fairfield, the son of G. Harold and Louise P. (Mahaney) McKenney. He was a communicant of the St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield, and graduated from the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in several locations including New Guinea, Bismark, Archipelago and the Southern Philippines. Mr. McKenney was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Fort Fairfield, and the American Legion, Walter Lovely Post No. 27, Fort Fairfield. In addition to his parents, Edward was predeceased by one brother, John H. “Mit” McKenney; one sister, Eleanor Castonguay. He is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Lois Ann and Richard Aldrich of Wellsley, Mass.; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 12-1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at the Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie officiating. Interment will take place at the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, later in the spring. A time of fellowship with refreshments will be held at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle, Fort Fairfield, immediately following the funeral service.
