DEER ISLE – Edward P. Haskell, 79, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at an Ellsworth healthcare facility. He was born Oct. 13, 1924, in Deer Isle, the son of Vernon L. and Jennie E. (Eaton) Haskell. Edward attended Deer Isle schools. He worked at Barter Lumber, was a woodcutter, and especially enjoyed clamming. Edward is survived by his wife, Thelma (Weir) Haskell of Deer Isle; a sister, Carolyn and her husband, Clarence, of Stonington; two brothers, Harold Leroy and his wife, Maria, of Belleview, Fla., and Windsor and his wife, Althea, of Fairfield; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Henry V. Haskell; and a sister, Vernita Hardie. Graveside services will be held in the spring.
