LIMESTONE – Edwena V. “Penney” Theriault, 84, wife of the late Eddie Theriault, died Thursday evening, Nov. 16, 2006, at her Limestone residence after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 14, 1922, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Joseph J. and Annie V. (Levesque) LaPointe. Penney graduated from Fort Fairfield High School in 1941 and was married to Eddie Theriault in 1946. She had been employed at the Fort Fairfield Five & Ten; the A&P Processing Plant, Fort Fairfield; and was a communicant of the St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield. She was a life member of the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187 Ladies Auxiliary, Fort Fairfield, and the Daughters of Isabella, Santa Maria Circle No. 427, Fort Fairfield. Mrs. Theriault will be remembered by all as a gentle, family oriented person. She loved cooking, gardening, family picnics and get-togethers in Searsport. She possessed a special love for shopping and her grandchildren, whom she raised as her own. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Theriault was predeceased by husband, Eddie, March 11, 1997; two brothers, James and John LaPointe; two sisters, Helen Shute and Mary Sanbrook. She is survived by one son, Wayne E. Theriault of Limestone; one grandson, Shane Theriault and his wife, Jenny, of Caribou; one granddaughter, Kristy Pickard and her husband, Jeff, of Maplewood, New Brunswick; two great-grandsons, Zachary and Devon Pickard, both of Maplewood, New Brunswick; two great-granddaughters, Alya and Mia Theriault, both of Caribou; one brother, Eli G. LaPointe of Searsport; numerous nieces and nephews. In keeping with Mrs. Theriault’s wishes, there will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie, celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Limestone. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held immediately after the funeral Mass at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Theriault to the St. Denis Catholic Church Memorial Fund, 147 Main St., Fort Fairfield, ME 04742 or the American Cancer Society, New England Division, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086. Envelopes will be available at the funeral Mass. Arrangements are in the care of the Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.
