HARMONY – Effie M. Gourley, 87, died May 22, 2004, at a Skowhegan hospital. She was born May 7, 1917, at Harmony, a daughter of George and May (Gilman) Chadbourne. She graduated from Harmony High School, Class of 1935, and married Arlie Gourley in 1936. Effie was a longtime employee of Bartlett Yarns in Harmony, retiring at the age of 76. She is survived by her children, Patricia and husband, John Morrison, Loretta and husband, Robert Patterson, all of Harmony, William and wife, Barbara Gourley, of Dexter, and Brenda and husband, James Monahan, of Bartlett, N.H.; brothers and sisters, Ray and Cecil Chadbourne, Emma, and Lenora Watson, all of Harmony, Norris and Clyde Chadbourne, both of Cambridge, and Colleen Wilbur of Brunswick; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Gertrude Tuttle of Athens. Effie was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her large family. She was predeceased by her husband; an infant son, Gregory; grandson, Robbie Patterson; two brothers, Clayton and George Chadbourne; and a sister, Doris Blanchard. There will be no visiting hours. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Dexter, with the Rev. Thomas Izon officiating. Burial will be in the Chadbourne Cemetery, Harmony. Memorial donations may be made to the Harmony Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, care of Mr. Paul Herrick, Athens Road, Harmony, ME 04942.
