ELEANOR ANNE LIBBY OLD TOWN – Eleanor Anne Libby, 79, passed away peacefully Nov. 3, 2007. She was born Nov. 28, 1927, in Portland, the daughter of Bernard and Frances (Norwood) Linnenbuerger. Eleanor attended Old Town High School and graduated from Brunswick High School, Class of 1945. She worked for a time as the telephone switchboard operator at the University of Maine. Eleanor was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star and she was known as a wonderful cook. She enjoyed being at her camp on the coast and knitting socks for her boys. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Edward H. Libby; sons, Mark Libby and his wife, Susan, Robert Libby and his wife, Rose, David Libby, Kirk Libby and Eric Libby and his wife, Lisa; daughter, Susan (Libby) Clearly and her husband, Bill; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and her dog, Toby. Eleanor’s favorite saying was “He’s my buddy,” when she referred to her grandson, Shane. Friends and family may call 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, until the funeral service begins 4 p.m. at Birmingham Funeral Home.
