DEER ISLE – Eleanor Thompson, 84, died at the Island Nursing Home, July 19, 2004. She was born April 14, 1920, in Deer Isle, the daughter of Peter M. and Eva M. (Cole) Eaton. Eleanor was a member of the Advent Christian Church of Deer Isle, and the Church of the Nazarene of Ellsworth. She served as the Missionary President, Church Board Secretary and was a Sunday school and Bible school teacher. She is survived by her son, Paul Thompson and wife, Rosalene, of Deer Isle; a daughter, Shirley Nevells and husband, Stephen, of Stonington; a sister, Eva Marie Osier of Hallowell; grandchildren, Sandra Nevells, Shirlanne Larrabee, Sherrie Smith and Mark Nevells, Timothy Thompson and Lori Thompson; great-grandchildren, Raymond, Kendall, Tessa, Elliott, B.J. and Andy. She was predeceased by loving husband, Merrill, on Feb. 11, 1993; her mother and father, Eva M. and Peter Eaton; and a brother, Cecil Eaton. Visiting hours will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, South Street, Blue Hill. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2004, at the Advent Church, 1155 Sunshine Road, Deer Isle. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
