ORONO – Elizabeth Ann Bennett, 82, died peacefully May 26, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Jan. 3, 1923, in Arlington, Mass., the daughter of John and Mary (Cronin) Piggot. Elizabeth graduated from Arlington High School and went on to complete her undergraduate degree at Boston University. She taught at Nantucket High School for several years and also for Eastern Illinois University. Elizabeth was a well-known realtor in Bangor working for Bangor Real Estate. She was an active board member of the Old Town-Orono YMCA and was proud of its development over the years. Elizabeth’s family was largest part of her life and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Jacob Bennett, of Orono; two sons, David Bennett, of Providence, R.I., Richard Bennett, and wife, Cindy, of Barrington, R.I.; a sister, Margaret Wood, of Auburndale, Mass.; grandchildren, Drew and Larissa. Funeral services will be held graveside 11 a.m. Saturday, May 28, at Mount Hope Cemetery, with the Rev. Joseph Koury, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Orono, officiating. Family and friends are invited to meet at the Superintendents Lodge, 1048 State St. Entrance, at 10:45 a.m., before the service.
