BLUE HILL – Elizabeth “Betty” Bellatty Allen, 96, died Sept. 26, 2006, in Blue Hill. Betty was born Nov. 8, 1909, in Boston, the daughter of Charles E. and Nellie (Franklin) Bellatty. Betty graduated from Girls Latin School and Boston University College of Business Administration in 1932. She resided in Belmont, Mass. for many years. She was an active member of the Belmont Methodist Church, Surry United Methodist Church, Girl Scouts of America, Boy Scouts of America, Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, Delta Chapter and the Lend-A-Hand Society of Boston. Betty moved to Blue Hill in 1999. She was a summer resident of Surry all her life. She is survived by two sisters, Ruth Johnson of Blue Hill and Barbara Korff of St. Petersburg, Fla. She was the loving mother of four children, Charles and his late wife, Rebecca of South China, Robert and his wife, Anne, of Brownville, Vt., Ruth Brenninkmeyer and husband, Max of Surry, and Jane Frantz of Bordentown, N.J. Betty also had eight grandchildren and 14 great-grand-children, all of whom brought her great joy. She was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Herbert M. Allen in 1971.
