BUCKSPORT – Elizabeth P. “Betty” Estabrook, 94, passed away April 7, 2005, at a local nursing facility with family at her side. Betty was born March 21, 1911, in Portland, to Hazel (Cole) and Charles Pennell. She grew up in Portland and attended Portland schools. In her 20s, she married Richard W. Estabrook. They lived in Berline, N.H., for a short time and since that time spent most of her life in Bucksport raising her three children. Betty lived a long and full life. She had traveled to many foreign countries, which she took many pictures and made many wonderful scrapbooks of. Betty made the most of her life, and everyone that met her and was lucky enough to know her and her sense of humor loved her. Betty was predeceased by her parents and three sisters, plus her husband, Richard; and is survived by her three children, Thomas W. Estabrook of Jaffrey, N.H., Nancy P. Wadleigh of Newagen and Jeanne M. Smith of Glenburn; three grandsons also survive her, Martin Mann of Bangor, Greg Smith of Bucksport and Todd Smith of Dover, N.H. At Betty’s request, there will be no funeral service. Burial will be private at the family’s lot in Topsham. Also at Betty’s request no flowers but please make donations in her memory to the Bangor Humane Society, The National Kidney Foundation of Maine, or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of Maine.
