ELIZABETH OBAR LIMESTONE – Elizabeth Obar, 92, died peacefully Jan. 27, 2004, at a Caribou health care facility, after a long illness. She was born May 4, 1911, at Caswell, the daughter of the late Fred and Alice (Labrecque) Michaud. She was a lifetime resident of Limestone. She was a lifelong member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Limestone, where she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne for more than 70 years. She loved to cook for her family and they have many memories of her wonderful Sunday dinners. She is survived by one daughter, Marie Herring; one son, Fred Obar and his wife, Barbara, all of Limestone; three sisters, Hope Obar and Leona Obar of Limestone, Susan Labrecque of Waterbury, Conn.; five grandchildren, Kathryn Albert of North Richland Hills, Texas, Michael Obar of North Yarmouth, Clayton Herring of Panama City, Fla., Ann French of Saco, and Cindi Hopwood of Augusta, Kansas; 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Obar was predeceased by her husband, Alfred, in 1942; and son, Lawrence in 1988; one brother, Leo Michaud; and two sisters, Alfoncie Johndro and Mary Beaulieu. Family and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, at the Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Limestone, with Father David Raymond officiating. Spring interment will be at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Limestone. Following the Mass, all are invited to attend a time of fellowship and refreshments downstairs in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Elizabeth’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, 163 Lancaster St. Suite 160B, Portland, ME 04101-2406. Envelopes will be made available at both the church and the funeral home.
