BANGOR – Elizabeth “Betty” R. Doran passed into God’s hands on Jan. 6, 2004. She was born in Bangor, the daughter of John D. and Alice (Butler) Doran. Elizabeth graduated from Bangor High School and the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Portland. She completed post-graduate work at Providence Lying-Inn Hospital in Providence, R.I. She was an instructor in the nursing program at Mercy Hospital and also worked at Eastern Maine Medical Center as head of the admitting office and also head of the central sterile supply department. She retired from EMMC in 1987. She is survived by two brothers, John Francis of Bangor and Joseph Frederick of Brooksville, Fla.; several nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces as well as many good friends. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, James Edward. Friends may call 3-5 p.m. Friday at the Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Catholic Church, York Street, Bangor with the Rev. Rudolph Leveille, celebrant. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Elizabeth’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
