HANCOCK – Elizabeth Shea Stratton, 87, died May 3, 2006, at an Ellsworth healthcare facility. She was born July 22, 1918, in Ellsworth, the daughter of Arno B. and Olive (Davis) Shea. Betty was a member of the Ellsworth High School, Class of 1935. She retired from New England Telephone Co. after 40 years of service. She rarely missed a game or activity that her children or grandchildren participated in. Her family was her hobby and her joy. She enjoyed Saturday night dances, baked bean suppers and a good poker or bridge game. Fishing and hunting camps with her husband, Les were always an adventure since she was always scared of the “mice.” Betty is survived by a son, Leslie Stratton Jr. of Hancock; daughters, Patricia Johnson and husband, John, of Middleborough, Mass., Lucille Hodgkins and husband, Paul, of Lamoine; grandchildren, Karen Stratton of Hancock, Robin McDonald and husband, Robert, of Dillingham, Alaska, Kim Calderon and husband, Gary, of Cheyenne, Wyo., John Johnson Jr. and wife, Kelly and Michele Bass and husband, Brian, both of Plymouth, Mass., Christopher Hodgkins and wife, Rhonda, of Camden, N.C., Blake Hodgkins and wife, Terri and Amy Hodgkins, both of Lamoine; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her lifelong friend, June Davis of Lamoine. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Les Stratton. Calling hours will be held 4-6 p.m. Friday, May 5, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 6.
