LINCOLN – Ellsworth William Smith, 84, died Jan. 17, 2007, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born Sept. 27, 1922, in Lincoln, the son of Pitt and Mildred (King) Smith. An Army Air Force veteran of World War II, Ellsworth remained dedicated to the American Legion, VFW and the Lincoln Veterans’ Honor Guard. He worked in the Lincoln paper mill for more than 40 years. Ellsworth is survived by his wife of 59 years, Emily (Kneeland) Smith; and their two children, Royce Smith and Cindy of Lincoln and Rene Smith of Belgrade; four grandchildren, Michelle Smith and Christian, Michael Smith and Cassie, Matthew Smith and Holly and Eliza Smith and Danny; two great-grand-children, Hunter Smith and Ethan Powers; one sister, Madeline (Smith) Leland and Carold. He was predeceased by a sister and her husband, Evangeline (Smith) Lancaster and Linwood. A graveside service with full military honors will be held in the spring.
