DOVER-FOXCROFT – Elwin McKusick Pingree, 92, husband of the late Marjorie (Price) Pingree, died April 1, 2004, at a local hospital. He was born March 12, 1912, in Ripley, the son of Elmer E. and Elnora J. (Cooley) Pingree. He attended Cony High School in Augusta. Years ago he was co-owner of P & G Motors Chrysler-Plymouth dealership in Dover-Foxcroft. He was a member of the Dusters Antique Car Club. Elwin will be remembered for his love of family, for dancing, antique cars, Boston terriers and his delightful sense of humor. He was predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Marjorie, in 1973; a daughter, Amy (Pingree) Hodsdon, in 2003; a brother and three sisters. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Rachel Pingree of Dover-Foxcroft; four grandchildren, Paul Hodsdon and his wife, Denise, of Brewer, Julie Pingree of Westborough, Mass., Michael Pingree of Falmouth, Margie (Pingree) Burnett and her husband, Robert, of Vandenberg AFB, Calif.; a great-grandson, Tyler Burnett of California; a great-granddaughter, Megan Burnett of California; a sister-in-law, Ruth Pingree Knowles of Dexter; several nieces and nephews. He will be remembered by a special friend, Rilla Burgess of Charleston. A graveside memorial service will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2004, at the family lot in Rural Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. David McLeish officiating.
