SANDY POINT – Emery Arthur Shute Sr., 74, passed away peace-fully, Thursday, March 22, 2007. He was born Aug. 7, 1932, in Prospect. Emery was a dairy farmer and owner operator of Double E Chipping Inc. He graduated from Stockton Springs High School, Class of 1951, and served in the Air Force during the Korean War. While stationed in Germany, he met and married Thea Dietz. They moved back to the states and made their loving, family home in Sandy Point. Here they raised their two children. Emery loved maintaining his lawn, doing gardening and watching his son’s Christmas tree farm business develop. Emery was also a member of American Legion Jerry Dobbins Post No. 157. Emery was predeceased by his father, Manly T. Shute Sr.; his mother, Velma Ashworth Shute; one uncle, Frank Ashworth; three brothers, Lester, Richard and Manly Jr.; two sisters, Edna and Emily. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Thea; a daughter, Annie and husband, Bill Pickford, of Goosepecker Ridge in Freedom; a son, Emery Jr. and his wife, Darolyn, of Sandy Point; five sisters, Pearl Seekins, Isabel Milewski, Tina DiTaranto, Teddy Wilcox and Barbara Jackson and her husband, Lee; a special aunt, Faustina Ogier; sisters-in-law, Annelies Thaler and her husband, Rudi, and Ingrid Perkins and her friend, Rick; and lots of wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins. “Gramps” had four very special grandchildren, whom he enjoyed watching grow up, Cale Pickford and his wife, Marisa, Jeremy Pickford and his wife, Houng, Nicole and Ryan Shute. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Waldo-Knox Amer-ican Legion Baseball, P.O. Box 187, Stockton Springs, ME 04981.
