BANGOR – Eric P. Hunter, 34, died June 21, 2007, in Bangor. He was born July 14, 1972, in Houlton, the son of Phillip and Kathleen (Grant) Hunter. Eric worked for VIP for many years, as an automotive technician. He was a gifted mechanic, but his true gift and passion in life was his music. He was a composer in the truest sense; usually whole pieces came to him at once and the lyrics and integrated pieces came next. While his music was at times primal, intense and soul revealing, he had lately shown a more mellow side, discovering a love of David Gilmour. Eric’s music is a treasured play list on our iPods. With the collaboration of his bands, Penumbra, Mnemosyne, Karazza and Insult to Injury, he presented his musical vision to the world. Anyone who knew Eric could not help being touched by his generosity of spirit, great sense of humor and his deep love of creating introspective and deeply personal music. Eric is survived by his mother, Kay (Grant) Hunter of Hampden; his loving wife, Cheri (Freeman) Hunter of Bangor; his three loving children, Autumn Nicole Hunter, Evan Brian Hunter and Parker Jerry Hunter; his sister, Vicki and her husband, Brett Leavitt, of Newburgh; three nephews, Rogan Winch, Gabriel Winch and Dustin Freeman; niece, Bethany Leavitt; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jerry and Debra Freeman of Orland; special friends, Ted Lagasse of Newburgh, Ken Rogerson of Bangor and many other close friends. Eric will also be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his “second” family, A. Nancy Black of Hampden and her children, Robert X. Black and his wife, Dana and daughter, of Atlanta, Elizabeth Black of Salem, Mass., Douglas Black and his wife, Karenlee and children, of Pensacola, Fla., Kathleen Largay and her husband, Nick and children, of Brewer and Bernadine Alane Black and her fianc?, William Johnson, of Hudson, Mass. He was predeceased by his father, Phillip. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A private Mass of Christian burial for the family will be held at St. Matthews Catholic Church, Hampden, with the Rev. Robert C. Vaillancourt, pastor, celebrant.
