MARS HILL and EASTON – Ernest R. Codrey, 77, passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005, at his residence. He was born Aug. 17, 1928, in Monticello, the son of Roland and Kathleen (Carmichael) Codrey. Ernie served in the U.S. Army during World War II and he loved the outdoors and the activities that it included, such as hunting and fishing. He was a sports enthusiast who especially loved baseball. He was also a member of the Faith Baptist Chapel. Ernie was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and an excellent provider to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Elsie; children, Laura Lee, Sandra Lee, Ernest Wayne, Rodney Gilbert, James Lee, Ellie Mae; grandchildren, Joey, Darren Christopher Messina, Shawn and Shannon King, Katrina Codrey, Jonathan, Jordan and Daniel Codrey, Eric, Kyle, Destin Larrabee and Danielle Doughty; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Faye Cole, Madeline Faulkner, Geraldine Hoyt, Caroline McNinch, Lillian Beldon and several nieces and nephews. Ernie will also be sadly missed by his pet cat, “Scooter.” In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Ronald Codrey, Linton Codrey, Forest Codrey; two sisters, Pearl Hanning and Beatrice Hoyt. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of service. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Faith Baptist Chapel in Blaine, with the Revs. Robert McCarthy and Kenneth Poole officiating.
