MT. VERNON – Ernest T. Tarbox, 87, of Mt. Vernon, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at Maine-General Medical Center in Augusta. He was born in Lynn, Mass., Nov. 10, 1916, the son of Roy and Aurilla (Locke) Tarbox. He was educated in Lynn Schools and worked at Bath Iron Works until entering the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he returned to Maine and began working at Inmont Corporation in Winthrop. He worked there until his retirement. Ernie enjoyed puttering around his farm in Mt. Vernon. Mr. Tarbox was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (Perkins) Tarbox; and his brother, Roy Tarbox. He is survived by his daughter, Karen Worster and her husband, Frank, of Waite; three granddaughters, Heather Worster of Nashua, N.H., Chrissa Worster, of Vanceboro, and Lynda Leighton and her husband, Coby, of Starks; a sister, Marcia Nobis and her husband, Arthur, of Winthrop; a niece, Carol Ricker and her husband, Norman, of Winthrop; and three nephews, Bob, Gilbert and Kenneth Tarbox. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop. Friends may visit from noon until service time. Burial will be in the spring.
