HAMPDEN – Esther L. (Perkins) Moon, 91, passed away peacefully, July 16, 2004, at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born May 28, 1913, in Hampden, the daughter of George A. and Rosa (Delano) Perkins. Esther was a lifelong resident of Hampden, and a lifelong member of the Harrison D. Barrett Spiritualist Church of Bangor. She was also a member of the Hampden and Brooks Senior Citizens. Esther loved to play bingo, “running the roads” and going out to eat. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother and over the years she helped to take care of many family members. She was predeceased by her husband, Willis P. Moon, in 1978. Esther is survived by her children, Hazel I. Sanford of Bangor, Evelyn P. Russell of Goldsboro, N.C., and Carl Moon and his wife, Sandra, of Milford; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, with Sandy Scott, President of the Harrison D. Barrett Spiritualist Church of Bangor, officiating. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Hampden. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the H.D.B.
