PORTLAND, Ore., and HERMON – Eugene “Gene” Doughty, 65, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at home in Portland, Ore., with his son and long time companion, Margaret Cannedy, by his side. Gene was the son of the late Lester and Mona Doughty. Gene attended schools in Hermon and Portland, Ore. Gene lived his life to the fullest, until his long struggling battle with lung cancer. He loved the outdoors, fishing, motorcycle riding, visiting flea markets and spending time with his family. Gene is survived by his wife, Carol Doughty, of Missouri; daughter, Tammy and husband, Halle States, and their three children, also of Missouri; daughter, Bonnie, and her son and daughter of Missouri; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister, Marlene and her husband, Bill Donahue, of Bradley; many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews. In keeping with Gene’s wishes, there will be a private memorial service in Portland, Ore., where his ashes will be spread at Cascade Locks, where Gene enjoyed fishing.
