FORT KENT – Eva (Laferriere) Charette, 90, died peacefully May 15, 2008, at a Fort Kent health care facility. She was born Jan. 11, 1918, in Fort Kent, the daughter of Joseph and Emma “Brasely” Laferriere. Eva was a member of Columbiettes, Ladies of St. Anne and VFW Ladies Auxiliary, all of Fort Kent. Her favorite pastimes were crocheting, working plastic canvas and knitting. She is survived by two sons, Alphonse and his wife, Rose, of Fort Kent, and Joseph Jr. and his wife, Janice, of Sherman Station; two daughters, Anna Jean Boucher and her husband, “Omer” Dalton, of Mapleton, and Eva Mae and her husband, Joe “Don” Cyr, of Van Buren; and one daughter-in-law, Bobby Charette of Fort Kent. She is also survived by two brothers, Oscar Laferriere of Connecticut and Leon Laferriere of New York; one sister, Mary Jane Cote of Connecticut; 17 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph A. Charette, in 2003; and one son, Danford Charette, in 2004; three brothers, Albert, Willard and Joseph Jr. Laferriere; and two sisters, Lilly St. Amant and Clara Bouchard. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday and 8-9:30 a.m. Monday at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Soldier Pond. Committal service will be held after at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Kent. Those who wish, in lieu of flowers may donate to St. Louis Renovation Fund, 26 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743.
