DEXTER – Evelyn A. Chapman, 73, died peacefully Oct. 1, 2007, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital after a long illness. She was born March 10, 1934, in Ripley, the daughter of Charles and L. Doreen (Jones) Sevey. Evelyn was born and grew up in Ripley, graduating from Dexter High School in 1953. In November 1953, she married Arthur Chapman of Ripley. She began working for SAD No. 46 as a school bus driver in 1974 until her retirement in 1990 for health reasons. Evelyn loved being a school bus driver for 15 plus years and took great pride in her job, especially her love for children. Evelyn enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. She also enjoyed crafts, crocheting, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by two sons, James A. and his wife, Karen, of Dover-Foxcroft and Galen E. and his wife, Kelly, of Dexter; four grandchildren, Nikki, Michelle, Matthew and Ashley; three sisters, twin, Ethelyn Mountain of Dexter, Dorothy Huff of Dexter and Seretha Sevey of Dexter; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Arthur, April 2007, after nearly 54 years of marriage; parents, Charles and Doreen Sevey; sisters, Shirley Philbrick and Mary Chabot; and infant twin siblings, Charles and Charlene Sevey.
