MILLINOCKET – Evelyn A. (Jewers) (Barker) Waite, 89, died Saturday, May 20, 2006, in Millinocket. She was born Aug. 27, 1916, in Millinocket, the daughter of John E. and Barbara (McInnis) Jewers. Evelyn worked for many years at Ferland’s Jewelry store in Millinocket. She loved walking every day and enjoyed knitting. Anyone who received an afghan or sweater from her felt truly special. Evelyn was also an excellent cook and was always sending food to someone. She married Eddie Waite in 1972 and they spent many good times fishing and many happy trips to Sourdnahunk Lake. Evelyn and Eddie also spent many winters in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. She was predeceased by her first husband, Gordon K. Barker in 1969; two sons, Dr. Gordon H. Barker and John C. Barker; a stepson, David Waite; and all her siblings, Henry, Robert, Harold, George and Ralph Jewers, Margaret Mountford, Mary VanDine, Barbara Kidney, and Elizabeth Jewers. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Edwin Waite of Millinocket; a daughter, Sandra (Barker) Michaud and her husband, Neal, of Millinocket; a son, Greig K. “Butch” Barker and his wife, Linda, of Medway; her grandchildren, Jill E. Somers and her husband, Scott and their children, Drew, Dayna and Hannah, Larry Michaud and his wife, Barbara and their children, Peter and Natalie Greig Barker II, Randy Barker and his wife, Peggy and their children, Lexi, Josie and Zoe, Edwin McReavy Jr. and children, Morgynn, Chase and Mckenna, Denise McReavy and her children, Camren, Bradley and Madyson, Corey McReavy and his children, Tyler, Macilyn and Hailey, Matthew Barker and his wife, Melissa and children, David and Emily, Andrew Barker and his wife, Louanne and children, Caitlyn, MacKenzie and Brady; stepdaughter, Kathryn Sheridan and her husband, Tom and daughter, Melissa; stepgrandson, Marc Waite and his wife, Jennifer and their children, Reegan, Nicklaus and Travis McGreevey; daughter-in-law, Margo Barker; a special nephew, the Rev. Robert Mountford and his wife, Mildred, of Florida; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. There will be no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday, May 26, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Millinocket. Burial will follow at Millinocket Cemetery.
