OLD TOWN – Evelyn C. Jarvis, 86, passed away Thursday June 24, 2004, at a Bangor hospital following a brief illness surrounded by her friends and family. She was born Dec. 8, 1917, in Old Town, daughter of the late Albert and Alphonsine (Russell) Cote. Evelyn was a member and faithful communicant of Holy Family Parish in Old Town. She worked for the University of Maine, various shoe factories and woolen mills in the Old Town area throughout her life. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, The Ladies of St. Ann and was a dedicated member of the Old Town Knight of Columbus Auxiliary for 34 years. She is survived and will be sadly missed by a daughter, Barbara Blair and her husband, Wally, of Old Town; two grandchildren, Nancy Blair of Belfast and Glenn Blair and his wife, Kimberly, of Milford; great-granddaughter, Lindsey Blair of Milford; brother, Leon Cote of Old Town; two sisters, Loretta Levesque and Leona Ouellette, both of Old Town; brother-in-law, Bernard Theriault of Topsham; several nieces, nephews and many special friends. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 47 years, Frank; three brothers and three sisters. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where the Old Town Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary will conduct a prayer service at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Parish in Old Town, the Rev. Normand Richard and the Rev. Rudolph Leveille Celebrants. Committal will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery in Old Town immediately following the mass. Friends and family are invited to the Holy Family Parish Hall following the committal for a luncheon and continued fellowship.
