WHITNEYVILLE – Evelyn J. (Gould) Mallory, 72, beloved mother and grandmother, died Jan. 24, 2005, at a Machias nursing facility. She was born Feb. 20, 1932, in Grand Lake Stream, the daughter of James M. Gould and Helena Brown Gould. She was a graduate of Lee Academy, Class of 1949. Jo was employed as a bookkeeper for Gay’s Shop & Save in Machias for 25 years, retiring in 1992. She is survived by three children, Jeanne Stuart and husband, Stephen, of Marshfield, Betty Vane and husband, Paul, of Whitneyville, John Mallory and wife, Mary, of Richmond Hill, Ga.; one sister, Virginia Smith of Lee; six grandchildren, Matthew Stuart of Wilmington, Mass., Lucas Stuart of Charlestown, Mass., Melissa Mallory of Baltimore Md., Mary Catherine Kallio of Medway, Ga., Whitney Hayward of Marshfield, and Gene Reid Mallory of Richmond Hill, Ga.; two great-granddaughters, Eliza Stuart of Wilmington, Mass., and Jolie Kallio of Medway, Ga; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Carroll Gould, Darrell J. Gould, and John Gould; and one sister, Florence Hendrick. At her request no services are planned at this time. There will be a graveside service at a later date. Those who wish may donate in her memory to The Maine Heart Association or the Maine Diabetes Association.
