NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Evelyn L. (Fortin) Wade, 90, died peacefully Friday, Nov. 12, 2004. She was born in Lawrence, Mass., June 25, 1914, the daughter of George A. Fortin and Agnes M. (Rainville) Fortin. She attended Lawrence schools and graduated from Lawrence High School. Mom, Nana, Great Nan lived in Lawrence and Methuen, Mass., Port St. Lucie, Fla., Bradley, and for the last seven plus years in Newport News, Va. She and her husband enjoyed their summer camp in Maine on West Lake for many years. She was a talented painter and ceramics instructor, liked to play cards, read, knit, needlepoint, crochet, and go for boat rides on the James River. She took great comfort from Tuesday morning chapel at the Hidenwood Retirement Community and attending Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Her husband of 55 years John F. Wade, her parents, and her sister, Lorraine Wyman predeceased her. She is survived by five sons and their wives, Laurence and Deanna Wade of Bradley, George and Kathleen Wade of Newport News, Va., Joseph and Lorna Wade of Putnam, Conn., John and Laurie Wade of New Berlin, Wis., Peter and Anne Wade of Garden Grove, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. There was a Mass celebrating her life at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church on Tuesday. Interment will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, Mass., 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2004.
