NEWBURGH – Evelyn (Shaw) Nason, 86, wife of the late Louis M. Nason, “Bump”, passed away Feb. 5, 2006, with her daughter at her side at a Bangor hospital after a brief illness. She was born Jan. 24, 1920, in Bangor, the daughter of William and Albina (Pollock) Shaw. Evelyn grew up in Belfast and was a graduate of Bangor High School, Class of 1938. She later moved to Newburgh where she had lived for many years and was a member of the Hampden Senior Citizens and Meals for Me. Evelyn loved her family and was proud to be a homemaker and stay-at-home mother. She enjoyed playing Bingo, embroidering, quilting and listening to country music. Evelyn’s greatest joy was being “on the road” with her beloved granddaughter, Amy Burns and helping Amy care for her children. Evelyn will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who devoted her life to her family. Evelyn is survived by her son, Ralph W. Nason and his wife, Nancy, of Unity; her daughter, Barbara L. Lawrence of Hampden; a sister, Sadie E. Danforth of Clearwater, Fla.; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great- great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis in 1983; by her parents, two sisters, Nina and Leila; and one brother, Ernest. Visiting hours will be held 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor David Morrison, pastor of the LaGrange Community Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be beside her husband at Oak Grove Cemetery, Bangor.
