HOULTON – F. Wendall Brown, 79, died Jan. 20, 2005, at a Houlton hospital. He was born March 18, 1925, in Hodgdon, a son of John and Bessie M. (Taylor) Brown. Wendall attended Hodgdon schools and was a 1943 graduate of Hodgdon High School. He was a member of the Military Street Baptist Church, Monument Lodge of Masons No. 96 AF & AM, and past patron of Fidelity Chapter OES. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was employed at Dunn Furniture Store for 25 years and retired from the U.S. Post Office in 1988, after 25 years of service. Wendall had a great love for gardening and wood crafts. He is survived by one son, Roger W. Brown of Houlton; three daughters, Melanie and her husband, Paul Shields Jr., of Palm Bay, Fla., Pamela and her husband, Carl McRoy, of Fairfield Iowa, Cheryl and her husband, Randy Levesque, of Houlton; nine grandchildren, Aaron, Erica and John Larson, Nolan Shields, Samantha, Stephanie and Ryan McRoy, Janelle and Brandon Levesque; one great-grandchild, Whitney Larson; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Jacqueline (White) Brown; brother, Eldon Brown; and sister, Edith Sweet. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, at Dunn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Military Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Randall Burns, officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
