THISTLEWOOD JONESPORT – Fabian “Fabe” Macey Thistlewood, 80, passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, surrounded by his family, at Sunrise Care Facility, after a long illness. Fabian was born June 26, 1927, in Jacksonville, the son of the late Russell and Susie (Dow) Thistlewood. Fabe proudly served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He was in the inactive reserve until 1956. After his service in the Army, Fabe worked as an auto mechanic until his retirement. He would always take his summer vacation to rake blueberries. In his younger years, he worked in the woods, and picked potatoes in Aroostook County. Fabe was an avid antique car buff. He especially liked Fords. He was a lifetime member of the Washington County VFW Post No. 11553. Fabe is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lois (Beal) Thistlewood; four sons, Obed Beal and wife, Susan, of Machias, Ernest Thistlewood, Randy Thistlewood, and Steven Thistlewood and wife, Kelly, all of Jonesport; three daughters, Jeanne Farnsworth and husband, Paul, Linda Durkee and husband, Manford, all of Jonesport, and Amy Robinson and husband, Arthur, of Addison; former daughters-in-law, Becky and Brenda; 18 grandchildren, Bonnie, Tori, Crystal, Alex, Sandy, Renee, P.J., Jeremy, Jessica, Amber, Jasmine, Cody, Lillian, Ben, Camryn, Madelyn, Maegan and Adam; 12 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Ivy-Sue, Celine, Travis, Bayleigh, Madison, Camdyn, Nakia, Gavin, Sebastien, Zander and Trenity; two great- stepgrandchildren, two great-grandchildren on the way; three sisters-in-law, Marcia, Vivian and Gloria; several nieces, nephews and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his five brothers, Paul, Alvah, Dean, Robert and a very special brother, Frank, who helped raise Fabian and their spouses; two sisters, Arlene and Doris; and a sister-in-law, Almeda. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at Community of Christ Church, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, with Pastor George Woodward officiating.
