BROOKLYN, Conn. – Fenton W. McAvoy, 60, of Christian Hill Road and formerly of Sher-man, died Wed-nesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at Haven Health Center, Danielson, Conn. He was born Jan. 28, 1947, in Island Falls, son of Jessie (Cameron) McAvoy of Patten and the late Stephen E. McAvoy. He was married to Sherry Michaud, Nov. 26, 1988, who survives him. Mr. McAvoy served in the U.S. Navy and served three tours of duty in Vietnam. He was employed as an auto mechanic and truck driver for area automobile businesses. His hobbies included small engine and motorcycle repair. He enjoyed antiquing and flea markets. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son, Fenton “Will” McAvoy of Belfast; daughter, Erin Merrill and her husband, Douglas, of Hope; stepson, Matthew Michaud and his wife, Jennifer, of Danielson, Conn.; two sisters, Nora Gardner of Stacyville and Jill MacDonald of Lamoine; four granddaughters, Lindsay Mer-rill, Kelsie Merrill, Isabella Mer-rill and Kendra Merrill, all of Hope; stepgrandchildren, Rowan and Greyson Michaud of Danielson, Conn.; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Stephen McAvoy Jr. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Haven Health Center, Danielson, Conn. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Haven Health Center Christmas Fund, 111 Westcott Road, Danielson, CT 06239. Tillinghast Funeral Home, 433 Main St., Danielson, Conn., is in charge of the arrangements.
