FLORA L. BAYRD CHERRYFIELD – The family of Flora L. Bayrd regrets to tell you of the passing of their beloved matriarch June 13, 2006. She was an incredible person who spent her life caring for her loved ones and others. Born Sept. 22, 1921, she attended schools in Franklin and married her lifelong mate. She worked as a nurse and caregiver during the pre and post war days and raised her two girls. She loved antiques and was able to run and operate her own shop for ten years. She competently partnered her husband in his business and kept their books to the letter. Her interior decorating abilities and talents at running a household were realized and admired by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert; her mother, Esther J. (Hardi-son) Magee; and her father, Sherman Joy; her aunt, Flora Campbell; and her precious great-grandson, Nicholas Bishop. She leaves behind her two daughters, Dollis Sprague and her husband, Fred, of Trenton and Cleveland, Tenn., and Roberta Bayrd of Tampa, Fla.; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Bishop of Cherryfield, Lori Kesner and Holly Petty and her husband, Robert, all of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and Jonathan Bayrd of Cherryfield and Sacramento, Calif.; five great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Alex and Amber Bishop and their mother, Kristina, Whitney Kesner, Kyle and Chloe Petty; a special friend, Gerry Yingling of Bluffton, S.C. and by all of her friends and church family. By Flora’s request, there will be no formal viewing or funeral services, but her family will be honoring her life and committing her to the Lord at a graveside memorial 2 p.m. Friday, June 16, at Pine Grove Cemetery in Cherryfield.
